Linux Cluster Institute 2023 is being held at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

Home to the Research Technologies division of University Information Technology Services, a center in the Pervasive Technology Institute at IUIndiana University is a renowned research university with over 48,000 students and a beautiful campus. There is always a multitude of activities on and around the campus.

Bloomington is home to thriving music, arts, and theater communities, and a diverse restaurant scene where a range of international restaurants rub elbows with American cafes and pizza joints.

Indiana Memorial Union Biddle Hotel & Conference Center

Most events will be held at the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) Biddle Hotel and Conference Center, located in the heart of the Indiana University campus. Additional optional events may be held at the Cyberinfrastructure Building (CIB) and Data Center (DC).

Transportation

Getting here

If your journey requires plane transport, we recommend flying into Indianapolis International Airport (IND)DO NOT FLY INTO BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, IL as it is a three hour drive to the Bloomington, INDIANA campus.The IND transportation center is across the walkway from the baggage claim as you leave the terminal. There are shuttle services to/from the airport. GoExpress charges $29 one way for a shared van or ~$130 for a sedan with up to three passengers. The buses are comfortable and (mostly) have onboard Wi-Fi and power.

If you plan to drive to Bloomington from Indianapolis airport, take Ameriplex Parkway to South Highway 67, head south until Martinsville, and then take Highway 39 east through Martinsville towards Highway 37/69. Highway 37/69 will take you the rest of the way to Bloomington. It takes an hour to get to Bloomington from Indianapolis airport.

Getting around

All conference events, lodging recommendations, and a multitude of restaurants are within walking distance of one another. If you prefer to take public transport, IU buses are red and free. The E route is the most convenient for reaching event venues. For getting around town, Bloomington Transit (BT) fares are $1 one way, with free transfers. The DoubleMap App has bus tracking and route information. There are plenty of taxi/Uber/Lyft options in Bloomington, but you will need to call them., Vvisit the cab stand in the IMU, or hail them with an app. All options are convenient and easy, but most places are easily walkable within 30 minutes.

Parking is available at the conference venue on a daily basis.

Conference Lodging

Lodging for participants is available on the Indiana University Campus.

Indiana Memorial Union Biddle Hotel and Conference Center

As of November 28, there are hotel rooms available at the conference venue, The IMU Biddle Hotel & Conference Center. These rooms include: inexpensive self-parking ($6 per night), free campus WiFi (EDUROAM or IUGUEST), full, queen, or king size bed, private bathroom, premium television, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, coffee maker, work desk, alarm clock (with MP3 connect), daily housekeeping, an on-site fitness center, and Starbucks and food outlets.

The conference itself is located within the IMU. You can go bowling or play billiards within the IMU itself, and off-campus dining and nightlife options are only a six to 12-minute walk away in downtown Bloomington.

Rooms cost ~$159 for single occupancy + applicable local and state taxes. You can check in after 4pm and check is at Noon.
